Program I - “The Return of Country Risk”
Mohsen Bahmani-Oskooee Distinguished Professor in Dept of Economics at UW-Milwaukee (see bio)
Morgan Parker International Risk Consultants (see bio)
Country risk is usually associated primarily with underdeveloped or emerging markets, and it is easy to forget that it can also afflict "rich" countries. Over the past year the news has been full of reports of international tensions over trade (im)balances and currency exchange rates, economic stimulus versus fiscal tightening, protests and work stoppages in European countries, the possibility of sovereign debt defaults, government bai l-outs and even doubt over whether the euro will survive. In this program our speakers will review such developments and put them into perspective, as well as identify some of the risks they pose for U. S. companies and suggest ways to mitigate those risks.
The program will be moderated by Paul Eversman, member ofthe MWTA Education Committee and Vice President of Foreign Exchange and Trade Services at Associated Bank, N.A.
