SPEAKERS Rob Gardenier, President, M.E. Dey & Co
Rob is a 1975 graduate of the Marquette University School of Business with a BS in Accounting. Rob joined M.E.Dey as an entry writer in 1978. He received his Customhouse Broker license in 1983. Married Sandi Siegel in 1992. They have one daughter about to go off to college. Rob, the fourth generation in this family business, is a regular guest speaker at WCTC and has given various presentations on issues relating to the import process, compliance, classification and valuation.
Betty Nowak (and Kurt Prange)– “Foreign Trade Zones & How They Can Benefit You”
Betty is the Marketing Manager at the Port of Milwaukee. She started with the Port in 1987, and has held several positions in cargo marketing and trade and business development.
She promotes the Port’s services and properties to overseas steel mills, shiplines, logistics providers, railroads, truck lines, barge and tug operators, as well as manufacturers and suppliers of all kinds. Betty continually works with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and other government entitites to ensure safe and effective inland transportation routes through the Port as well as legislative action that affects them. She is also responsible for community awareness, advertising, and administrating the Foreign Trade Zone No. 41.
Betty is the Wisconsin Secretary and Regional Vice President of the Association of Women in the Metals Industry; and she serves on the Board for the Milwaukee World Trade Association and co-chairs the Social and Company Tour committees.
Kurt Prange
Kurt Prange is a Senior Manager at Bentley World Packaging and recently assigned to oversee the Bentley FTZ operation . He is currently the President of the Milwaukee World Trade Association which he has been a member since 1993. Under Kurt's leadership the MWTA now offers additional networking events for manufacturing and service companies. The newly formed Manufacturing & India Councils are acting as a vehicle for companies to learn and share more about doing business in the US and overseas. Kurt has been actively promoting, identifying and facilitating educational programs for companies interested in increasing their international trade opportunities while preserving and expanding US job opportunities. Kurt is a former owner of an industrial packaging firm, a senior director of manufacturing and quality control, teacher and coach. Kurt additional responsibilities include participating with firms engaging in Lean Manufacturing, sustainability, packaging and logistics. Kurt is a 1985 graduate of Valparaiso University. He lives in Nashotah with his wife and three children.
