Welcome to the Milwaukee World Trade Association. The MWTA is a membership-driven organization that links companies and individuals with common interests in expanding their international business; exchanging history, challenges and experiences; increasing member knowledge of expertise in international sales and services in the Milwaukee-area and beyond. Events sponsored by MWTA are organized by our members, who participate on a variety of committees and our Board, who bring programs on timely topics and local business men and women with international business experience together to share their knowledge and expertise.
Going global takes vision and hard work. You need to know about overseas business opportunities, learn how to tap into effective distribution channels and understand the unique cultural and legal nuances of geographic markets. The Milwaukee World Trade Association, formed in 1932, holds monthly meetings on international trade and is a network of 300 corporations with 900 individual members. MWTA meeting topics include cultural training; logistics; legal and taxation issues; international finance; distributors, agents and joint ventures; and import/export regulations and challenges. In addition, MWTA sponsors networking opportunities with ethnic dinners highlighting the culture and cuisine of various countries, a spring Wine Tasting and a summer joint TAMI (Transportation Association of Milwaukee Inc)-MWTA golf outing as well as the annual May Wisconsin International Trade Conference--this year in our 46th year--which focuses on import and export issues in a collegial atmosphere.
