The Customer’s Perspective
--Steve Rubinson, Director of Global Trade Compliance at Johnson Diversey

  • Understanding NAFTA requirements and getting management to buy in
  • The need for accurate documents and penalties for non-compliance
  • Rules of origin - how do companies know whether their products qualify for NAFTA?
  • Examples of NAFTA qualification - items which meet or fail to meet the rules of origin
  • Foreign versus local content - how does NAFTA treat content requirements compared with other trade agreements?

The Brokers Perspective
– Jarad Currier, Vice-President, Corporate Logistics at Quality Global Logistics

  • How to change Gray areas into Black and White.  No, you do not need to be a magician!
  • Export compliance exceptions with NAFTA agreements and how they affect the CBP’s and OGA’s
  • Foresight into what changes to expect  with the new administration so we can adjust business accordingly

12:00 PM        Lunch (Included) followed by an Opportunity to Bid on Auction Items

1:30 PM          “FREE TRADE AIN’T FREE: DEALING WITH PROTECTIONISM IN THE RECOVERY”  Led by:  Chris Kuehl, Managing Director, Armada Corporate Intelligence (Our favorite)

The tendency for many nations facing economic threat is to pull back from trade. This is not a very wise move as most nations need that trade to recover. The US has fallen into that trap of late and this session will look at what threats have been mounted against NAFTA and other agreements. There will be some examination of what is happening in Europe, Asia and Latin America as far as trade is concerned and what we can expect in the near future.

2:45 PM         Final Bids on Auction Items and Presentation of Winning Bids
