Sixty college students and their professors from Alverno Jim Henderson, Career Forum Committee Chair & Glenn Hsu, Marquette Kathy Rehbein & Jamshid Hosseini, MSOE Kelly Ottmann & Shajan John, the Institute for World Affairs, Center for International Education, UW-M Susan Yelich Biniecki & Tracy Buss, WCTC Aleda Bourassa & Marilyn Jenkins and MWTA Jeanette Mikulski participated in an afternoon of career exploration, fact finding and experience sharing at the Manpower Headquarters in downtown Milwaukee. Mark Metzendorf, Manpower’s Vice President of US Marketing & franchise Relations welcomed the group with an overview of the Q2 2010 Manpower Employment Outlook Survey results that had just been published. Each student then attended three of seven roundtable sessions on topics that ranged from IT Jodi Garg, Global Agiliti, Business in SE Asia Carey Dentice, formerly of Briggs & Stratton, Sales & International Management John Pinkstone, FedEx, Fair Trade and Entrepreneurial International Careers Steve Wallace, Omanhene Cocoa Bean Co, Finance Pauline Klaffenboeck, M & I Bank, Manufacturing & Marketing Frank Bryant, InSinkErator and Finance Consulting John Bengel, Orion Systems. George Blomgren of MRA spoke about social media and international careers in a closing session, and the afternoon ended with refreshments and networking. This is the third year that Manpower has opened their Headquarters for this student event. Their staff works closely with the Career Forum committee and donates the use of their high-tech meeting rooms and skilled staff to organize this conference.
