Whether exporting or importing, we are all facing challenges with our global logistics lately. We are seeing increasing rates, often significant and unexpected. GRIs are frequent and difficult to predict. We are facing vessel capacity shortages, and we are forced to book our shipments many weeks in advance. We have had Bookings cancelled without warning. We are struggling to find available containers when we need them, particularly inland from the major ports. The current challenges have potential to have severe impact on our current businesses, from stalled production lines to unsatisfied customers.
What is being done to address these challenges? Will rates increases continue at the current pace? Will we see improvements in vessel capacity? Will the equipment shortages become a problem of the past? As exporters and importers, what opportunities do we have to improve this situation and avoid detrimental effects on our business? Please join us for this Program I that is certain to be informative and worthwhile. Logistics challenges certainly have effects that reach far beyond the Logistics Department. Not only will those directly involved in Logistics benefit, but other areas including Sales, Finance, Manufacturing and more will benefit.
We have invited two experts with many years of experience in Global Logistics. Donna Lemm, Director of Global Client Services, Mallory Alexander International Logistics, will address the opportunities and challenges facing exporters. Cynthia Wood, Senior Account Manager, Emo Trans, will focus on the import side. Each will discuss the current state of Global Logistics, then discuss what we can expect in the near and distant future. Plenty of time will be allowed for questions and discussion from attendees, since our MWTA membership brings varied and extensive experience from which we all benefit. Judy Jeffery-Griffin, International Trade & Logistics Administrator, Cooper Power Systems, will moderate the Program, as well as the Q&A session.
